My art installations are visual OpEd pieces and Editorials that comment on current events drawn from pop culture, the medical industry, women’s issues, and generational topics. These inspirations act as my conceptual departure points and are investigated, blended and developed into sculpture and installations that illustrate my narratives.
A part of my process involves the use of a set of rules that are derived from my inspiration for the piece. These rules help equate the original concepts to the materials, color, position, space and size chosen for the installation.
It is the work and time spent in the studio that takes me inside the piece. As elements are added and removed, the installation comes together and it begins to stand on its own. I find this segment of the creative process in the studio to be the most rewarding and is a crucial step in balancing the autobiographical, abstract and cultural material.
